Its beautiful! I love the different variety of people here and the family nature of Holland. The beaches are beautiful!
I liked this area and I still do, because a few years after me and my close family members moved somewhere else in-state, I was very surprised as well as very excited that they put in a new zip line tower over the Kalamazoo River, even though I haven't been on it nor tried it out yet. However, I'm hoping to do so sometime and someday as soon as I lose enough weight of my own and have the chance to do so. Plus, I'm also interested in trying out the new Sweet Temptation's Breakfast menu at some point, as well. What I liked about the Allegan High School was that they have, not only Open Campus for lunch, but they also have extra designated places to eat food at, besides just the cafeteria. Plus, everybody at the high school have lunch at the same exact time almost. On the other hand, there can definitely be more employment and rental housing options, in my own opinion. For example, someone should open up and run places like; A&W, KFC, Arby's, Wesco, Jet's Pizza, Kroger, Big Boy, etc.
I love all of the new renovations this little town has made. We have made our riverfront boardwalk so beautiful and more welcoming to the public. They have installed a splash pad downtown for summer time fun free to anyone of the public as well as a little fire stand to warm up by during the winter. We have added lights to our old iron bridge which is a big symbol for our town, so lighting it up I believe was a great idea to make our symbol stand out to those who aren't from Allegan. I love how welcoming and small our community here in Allegan is. No matter where you go you always see a familiar face.
Nice smaller town with lots of parks and family activities. Excellent downtown riverfront park area. In close proximity to larger towns and cities and Lake Michigan beaches. Needs more activities for adults. Overall a nice smaller town.
Allegan is a small town in some of the worst ways possible. There's nowhere to go, nothing to do, and the people are more often than not of questionable morals.
I was born in Allegan and lived here my whole life i wish that the Nightlife here was better but overall everything is perfect
Allegan is a small town drenched in history, dating back to pre-civil war era. There are large areas of historical homes that were built by civil war soldiers retuning after the capture of The southern President, Jefferson Davis. The residents are mostly friendly and usually carry a smile. Most of the historical homes are well preserved and restored. The city has a reknowned fair every year, in fact, they were the first fair to offer electricity in the state. Allegan provides a great history and old town charm with friendly people and a quaint atmosphere.
There is so much more going on in this town than you would even imagine. There are 10-12 events at the waterfront throughout the year. There is an Octoberfest, 4th of July Fireworks and a New Years Eve ball drop. There a great restaurants, bars, a cinema! ($4.00 for a movie) and beautiful outdoor areas to explore in the Allegan State Game Area. Allegan continues to surprise my wife and I after living here for 2 short years!
Allegan is a very small town, much like the one I lived in for 14 years. I believe that everyone knows everyone in this town. People know anything and everything about anyone that comes up in a conversation. I do not think I would like to see anything change about Allegan, I think it's fine just the way it is.
The schools are good. The area has only select places of employment although it is surrounded by other cities not too far away that have an excellent employment status.
Safety is better than larger cities, although crime does happen.
Diversity could be better. Races seem to be separated into certain neighborhoods.

Allegan has a diverse culture, and friendly atmosphere. I would like to see more restaurants open in the area, and more entertainment venues..for all ages.
I haved lived in Allegan my whole life. Some things I like about Allegan are the Boardwalk and the bridge (especially when it lights up). There have been some additions to the Boardwalk and soon the library, which is one of my favorite places downtown. It's a nice little place overall.
It is a small farm town in which everyone knows everyone. A few grocery stores, a handful of places to grab some food and not much to do other than that. Good for raising kids and growing old.
It has a good school district. But you have some places that are dumpy and then some that are nice.
There have been little, if any, crimes in my neighborhood.
I don't see myself living anywhere else. I have lived here most of my life, and cherish everything about my neighborhood.
No one here uses public transportation. If you want to go anywhere, you need to drive.
