Moved to Ashland City, Tennessee to enjoy the outdoors and bought a home on a tree lined, dead end street. That’s not the only thing dead end. So are our dreams of a Mayberry like, friendly wholesome community. We have 4 small rescue dogs. Only, they are contained to our (fenced in) back yard and home. Try to walk them down our street and find the neighbors very unfriendly. We tried, several times, and each time a large man would come out, aggressively, and shout because our, leashed dogs, were disturbing his non leashed, aggressive dogs! This man owns a business, clear by the service vehicles with the electrical company he runs, on the sides. He must carry weight (besides his girth) because no one from the city even cared to come by and address our complaint. Never will.
Make sure you don’t step one tiny toe out of line in this town. Not a parking ticket. Please read James Pattersons’ The Jailhouse Lawyer. Different zip code, same Judicial System.

Ashland city is an ok town. In the past 17 years of living here it has added some new things to the town, but not much, and for the most part there mainly more food places and/or restaurants that they have added. From what I have observed, there's really not too much community event and/or activities, and if there is any there not that good. Not only that, but as far as I know the schools aren't too great either. And especially for me and my special needs, they were horrible while I attended them, and we tried pretty much every elementary school in the county. I wouldn't recommend sending your child to any of the schools if they have a disability, are blind or visually impaired, deaf, or have any special needs. Other than that, there are some more better sides to the town. Your right by the Cumberland River and there are a few placed to fish and/or go boating. The population isn't that big at all aiming around 5,500 people that live here.
With its natural beauty and proximity to Nashville and Clarksville, Ashland City has a lot of potential. But, its mayor seems intent on turning it into an industrial center that benefits his own friends while also encouraging lots of affordable housing.
There are some great nature experiences in Ashland City, like the River Bluff area and the bicentennial bike trail. Growth in the area is overwhelming the current infrastructure a bit and the retail offerings are lacking. Proximity to Nashville is very convenient.
I love it here! I was born and raised in Cheatham county and I can't imagine living anywhere else. For the most part, everyone is so sweet and it really feels like a community!
Pretty decent place to live. Nashville and Clarksville are relatively close. Most of what I need is local and its quiet.
We have lived here since around1983 and my husband was raised here.We both just love it here. Our kids are grown so we don't mind going to Nashville or Springfield either. It's truly beautiful here and since I've been here I knew its the only other place,I would want to,live.Im from West Knoxville and they are so much alike.I know when I moved here the population was only2800,AND its doubled in the last20 year's its grown a lot.I don't like anyone that throws their trash out on our beautiful roads but they still do it here.
We need a health food store, more parks, a recreation center. There is limited transportation in Ashland City for seniors and disabled people. The local access hospital needs to be upgraded with technology and skilled providers.
I have lived here my entire life and I wouldn't give it up for the world. It is such a lovely, little town and almost everyone gets along here beautifully. The only thing I could see to change is the amount of time and energy put into the educational portions of the town.
Great place to live if you like the countryside. Close enough to Nashville but quiet and spacious. Small town feel close to the big city. Affordable living.
Small town, fairly quiet, near the river, good place to retire. Few good restaurants, only one decent motel. Downtown is fairly unattractive except for a nice courthouse. Economy is dominated by one large factory.
Ashland city is a great place because even though it is a relatively small town, Nashville which is near is booming. This leads to Ashland City being creative and diverse. Our small town is becoming more successful every day. and group needs can be met.
It depends on who you meet really, a lot of people are rude and disrespectful but most are kind. There's a church around every corner and a Mcdonald's down the street so that's cool.
When it comes to public services we do have a great system of protection. The police station, fire station, and EMC are very fast responders and do a great job at working together to save lives. When the emergencies are too serious or critical they do get assistance from one of the surrounding cities. There is a helicopter that comes from the larger hospitals in Nashville that flies here to take a hurt person the hospital for assistance.
The younger people in this area are very welcoming to any types of people but I am not sure if I would want to live here all over again. I am so happy to have to opportunity to get away from this small town and go to a college in a larger city. In the future I don't see many changes for the town due to many people move away from here. I doubt there will be many stores or restaurants opened in the future.
This town has only a Wal-mart and then two smaller grocery stores. There area about three convenience stores and three pharmacies in which none are open 24/7. There are some family owned businesses such as restaurants but they tend to open and close often. There is absolutely no retail shops which is why many travel into the city.
Half of the people actually live in the actual town where the houses all have a decent amount of lawn size. Some house have garages while others don't. There are some homes that are vacant however those do get filled up almost immediately. When it comes to the other half of the people in the county, they live on the outskirts of the little town where many have acres of land and privacy. There are however many more vacant properties that aren't filled in this area.
