Aventura is not for me. It is a fast growing city, but as such, it has the problems that come with living in a city. The population is diverse and many people are foreign. This is not a bad thing in itself since it is great to meet new people and experience other cultures, but there is a lack of understanding of safety laws and a police force that fails to enforce any laws. Driving here is quite stressful and dangerous. It is not uncommon to see signals ignored or turns made across multiple lanes of highway. Pedestrians and bicyclist also have no regard for common sense. It is quite frightening how often people are injured.

As somebody who came from a small community, I am used to people regarding others - showing courtesy. I do not find it here in South Florida. People in Aventura, and South Florida in general, are just rude, self-absorbed, and arrogant. Thankfully I am leaving soon and will never have to come back.

Aventura has a strong Jewish community and there are a lot of synagogues and shules that are always inviting the community to participate in youth and family activities. Often different organizations work together to create a bigger interest. Aventura also has beautiful parks that provide great activities for the community. There is a wonderful Center of the Arts that not only provides the community with great comedy, dance, and plays, but also serves the community as a venue for the local arts programs.

Aventura is a great place to raise children. Although it often feels that it is predominantly a Jewish community, in the schools all the children of different faiths and ethnicities get along and thrive in the community.

Aventura is not a large community so there are not a lot of options. Aventura is predominantly condominiums and there are only very few communities with homes and they are expensive. There are also very few townhouse communities.

I would prefer there be more economical options but it is very difficult to find a nice townhouse at a reasonable price. Presently they are building townhouses in neighboring North Miami Beach, and it might provide an option for people that are looking for more options.
