The weather in Becker is, for the most part, very comfortable. Big storms seem to miss us. We call it the effect of the Becker triangle. Summers are often moderate, with comfortable breezes. Fall is crisp and the air is fresh. There are mostly oak trees in our area, so the colors of fall are muted except for the bright yellow of the poplars and the red/orange of sumac. Winter varies each year. Some years have frigid temperatures and others are much more moderate. Snow varies, as well. Because of the open farm land, roads can get drifted over rather easily. Spring brings flowers, blossoms, and new life. We have abundant wildlife around here, and seeing newborn fawns, ducklings, and signets makes living in this area the perfect place for taking photos.

There is a wide variety of small local restaurants in this area. Nix bar is a hit. There are Chinese restaurants, Mexican, and the usual fast food pizza, subs and burgers. Not far away is Russels on the Lake, with a beautiful view of Big Lake. This restaurant has delicious food along with a fantastic salad bar. It also has patio dining in the summer. It is a favorite location for Prom dinners, as well. It hosts special buffets for Thanksgiving, Mother's Day, and Easter. It is decorated with antiques and has a very warm and cozy atmosphere. Contrasting Russels is the Lake Cafe. It is the typical small town diner that serves great fried food and delicious pie. Jessie Ventura ate there when he was running for Governor.

Many people that live here work at the coal power plant or the nuclear plant in the next town over. Most people commute to either St. Cloud or the Twin Cities for work. There are small town jobs, such as gas station, fast food, or grocery store clerk that are available for the young people in the town. There is a large furniture store in the community that also employs people from the area. There is an industrial park on the opposite side of Hwy 10 that offers industrial type employment.
