What's there not to like about Belmont? It's funky -- many side streets are without sidewalks and haven't been paved since the Eisenhower administration. But the school's are first-rate, young families are mixing in with more seasoned residents, and the weather's great.

With the growing influx of techies to the Bay Area, the prices of houses are going up. This sets up gentrification in areas once populated by immigrant populations that have been there for many years. While this isn't necessarily their fault, they do get blamed for it. The overall living environment in that area is top notch and can't be beat. There is also a wide variety of restaurants that are affordable which makes going out easy

This is the burbs, folks. The crime rates here are commensurate with surrounding neighborhoods. Residential burglaries are an issue here as they are on the rest of the Peninsula.
