There are a lot of job opportunities for people who are okay with being an associate at a retail store or working in a fast food restaurant type setting. Basically, the options are few and are typically on a short-term basis. I would say majority of Belvidere's population either travel to the surrounding cities (i.e. Rockford, Dekalb, Chicago Suburbs) for their careers. Otherwise, you're looked at as pretty darn lucky to land a job in the heart of Belvidere doing something you see yourself doing for the next 20 years, or so.

This is a classic growing American town, not a huge city, but not a tiny pin on the map you can drive through without noticing. While it's not the perfect place to live, it makes a good effort at giving the residents a place to make their lives fun.
