I have lived here for 6 years while I attend the local university. The town has strong community ties. Many people come here for the numerous outdoor options, including hiking, bouldering, waterfall jumping, tubing, skiing/snowboarding, camping, whitewater rafting, mountain biking, etc. There is a very strong support of local businesses, as many restaurants and bars are family- or individually-owned, rather than large chains (which are mostly just the fast food options). The majority of the population are students and professors at the local university. It is a great place to live while attending school, but after graduation there are very few aspirational job opportunities because of the small population. Most students do not stay in town after graduation.

This town is generally very safe. Most crimes include vandalism or drug possession due to the large number of college-aged students. Mostly, there are not violent crimes reported. I feel safe walking around at night on and off campus.

Great local businesses to include restaurants, bakeries, convenience stores, general stores, and many others.
