Overall Brandon is a good area to be in. The majority of people that I come into contact with are nice and helpful if needed and very family devoted. Nightlife tends to lack a little here, but the drive to Tampa is only about 20 min and Orlando is an 45 minutes to an hour with both areas having night life so the commute to get to it isn't far. Brandon's schools vary in ratings the average for the area as a whole is 6. I have not experienced any crimes first hand and the majority of the things I hear about are minor robberies and those are scarce so to my knowledge this is a safe place to live.

The Brandon area can best be described as in a state of general stagnation. Very little of consequence seems to occur from day to day. Every six to eight months the opening of a new restaurant or other comparable novelty may occur, but that is essentially it. The general atmosphere is one of vague contentment, but there are few productive jobs in the area. Outside of teachers, local law firms, etc, many commute to Tampa or Macdill Air Force Base for their jobs. Crime is fairly low overall, at a plus. However, there isn't much to do. No exciting parks or attractions, though I suppose this is to be expected of most suburban areas. A vague feeling of ennui characterizes the place.

Brandon is a suburb outside of Tampa. There is a mall and plenty of plaza's and a movie theater so those are good sources of entertainment. Apart from that you're going to want to take the 20+ minute commute to Tampa (based on traffic) to get anything progressive accomplished. Primarily people from Hispanic and African American culture, very friendly and hospitable.
