There are many parks/green spaces in the area. Brookfield is an incredibility rural town, lots of country and farming. There is one nearby state park called Pershing Park. There are not many outdoor activities for leisure other than the occasional swings set at the parks, fishing at the city lake and the swimming at the city pool. The quality of the different city parks vary. One park in located in the middle of town, and is not very well maintained. On the other hand, the park that includes the city swimming pool is very nice and well maintained. Pollution is not a huge concern due to the fact that there aren't many factories in town and low population, but there are many open lagoons in Brookfield that concern me.

The local restaurants, salons, and grocery stores (including a Wal-Mart) do pretty well around here. Mom-and-pop shops are dong okay mostly because people want to support their friends and family in the area that own those shops. The bigger companies such as Wal-Mart and McDonald's do very well and are usually pretty busy. If I wanted to retail shop and shop for furniture and higher end items I would need to travel a pretty far distance. I wouldn't say that I could get everything I wanted here but besides good healthcare, everything I would need is here.

The atmosphere in this area depends on what an individual makes of it. There is not many things to do in Brookfield, which is a common complaint in this area. We did recently obtain a movie theatre here which has been nice. Everybody knows each other due to the size of the town, and most people are very friendly and helpful to residents. I see the community growing due to the efforts of different organizations trying to improve the community. I would choose to live here again because I think highly of the school system, but I do hope to see many things improve.
