Mostly everyone drives cars in the area. Taxis are available for those who can't drive or need a ride. The taxi service is small but perfect for Newton. They are very nice people who will pick you up at any time of the night. Parking is fairly easy; there are big parking lots and parking all over the streets. There are some bikers and walkers but not a lot, and if they do, Newton has good sidewalks and bike trails all throughout. There is no traffic or congested areas in Newton really because of low population and good streets.
Newton has some good restaurants. Okoboji and Montana Mikes are near each other and serve about the same things. Both of these places include bars. I enjoy the fried zucchini appetizer at Montana Mikes. My favorite pizza place in Newton, is Giovanni's. I suggest the supreme pizza and a side of onion rings. There's also bars on the town square and a couple thrown here and there. My favorite bar is ForeSeasons, a golf bar. Frequently has bands and other entertainment.
Newton of course has the Iowan weather. We have all four seasons, fall, summer, spring, and winter. Our winters are cold and our summers are hot. There are few natural disasters. Very few tornados touch the ground. And thunderstorms happen sometimes which I, personally, enjoy.
